The term roids, hype, pumpers, juice or gym candy, etc. is very common to persons in the fitness or sports industry.
Testosterone is known to be the most powerful androgen although there are other varieties. A male produces androgens in the body which are a type of sex hormones that make and promote men as masculine as they are. Steroids are naturally made by the body to support functions such as to fight stress and improve growth rate and development. Anabolic steroids known as roids are artificially produced hormones similar to the male-type sex hormones in the body. These hormones are not natural and could have side effects.
What does an artificial steroid really do? When taking up steroids, a rapid increase in the rate of growth of tissues occurs, particularly in the muscles. Roids or steroids increase the level of anabolic hormones in blood leading to fast recovery times. These substances help to rebuild tissues which have become weak caused by serious illnesses and injuries and a person may experience increased strength, energy and improved stamina. Most importantly, steroids provide extra fuel to the muscles a person needs. When the level of anabolic hormones in the blood is high this enables the person to break through their body’s natural limitations but being knowledgeable and persistent pays off even better.
Athletes take steroids to reduce their body fat in their weight training and strength training routine which offers them a competitive edge. Bodybuilders use roids for enlargement of muscle tissues, the very thing they want. Others have reasons for the use of anabolic steroids such as for treatment purposes as, for example, to gain or compensate the weight loss after an injury or continuing infection. People also use roids in order to treat certain types of anemia or certain kinds of breast cancer in women. Steroids are also common when treating swelling of the face, arms, windpipe, legs, throat, bowels, or the sexual organs caused by hereditary angioedema.
Abuse of steroids has been related with a wide array of unfavorable side effects that affect the body. These may range from physical unattractive effects, as breast development in men, but also suffering heart attacks or developing liver and cancer tumors which could be life threatening.
Roids are infamous for all the right reasons while they do have some therapeutic value attached to them. They are a topic of debate among social activists and law makers because of the bane they carry with them, routing the youth and athletes the wrong way due to their side effects. Apart from the physical ones, they cause a host of psychiatric effects as aggression, hypomania, and even depression. They are addictive in nature and are mostly known to be misused.
Aside from turning to steroids as an alternative to achieving the desired physique one must observe that they eat right, train properly, and get enough sleep. The normal way of growth and development is a much more sure and desirable way of achieving success.
Roids or steroids as they are more famously known are a hormone group that is injected in the blood stream to help achieve a faster muscle growth. However, in reality, roids come with many serious side effects, many of which are dangerously adverse.
